It’s like you can dream to be a doctor but if you don’t study and put yourself to it then you are not going to become one. One has to commit themselves and work hard to get to where they want to be. So if you want to be that character so bad, don’t just wait around for it to happen, work for it and you will get there somehow with the effort you put into it. :)

Through experience and research, you, not friends, decide what type of person you are. If you want to achieve being compassionate, you must think of others and be able to listen to others and sympathize with them. In my perspective this quote mostly states that it is merely impossible for yourself to be imagined/ dreamed up into the desirable character you cannot be easily shaped and be as you wish. Nothing truly happens out of nowhere without yourself having to have to work for it and put some effort and work into it. If you want something done you have to get out there and do it yourself, nothing can happen otherwise.Therefore creating the character in which you want though experiences and things that you have learned daily, that's the only way how.

Stephanie, I also agree with you things are easily said than done. We can say we want to be a famouse singer for instance but if we do not take classes and practice specific techniques for singing we would not be able to become singers. So singing sounds easy because we do it all the time when listening to the radio. In my opinion, the quote is say that one cannot achieve one's dream if one doesn't make any efforts. Dreams are always beautiful, but it is still a dream and cannot become reality. For example, my friend was enthusiastic to apply a famous college in China. His ambition impress me, and I believed that he could get into the college he desired. Unfortunely, he failed. I heared that my friend told everybody his wonderful dream but he had never done anything to shorten the distance between the dream and reality. He slept in class, played games at home, and copies homework before class. He considered himself a genius and thought it was his destiny to go in the college he wanted. His failure proves that dream cannot be achieved if people donnot work hard. Actually, my friend was pretty smart. I believe people like him can make their dreams come true if they fight for the dreams.
I agree what Susan said because nothing in the world is free and you should fight for your dream. For example, many people in our school have free lunch, but our parents also paid taxes. There is no exactly free thing in the world.

For example, deciding what we want to be in the future is not an easy choice, but when we finally do make that decision, we have to put forth maximum effort in order to achieve that goal. In other words, we may dream to a certain character, but rather than forcing yourself to become it, we should enjoy the ride. At other times, we do have to forge ourselves, because it may not be so exciting for us at the time, but it will be worth it, in the long run.

Unfortunately, there is not magic lamp and it certainly can not be done as easy as "1,2,3" is said. In order to achieve our goals and aspirations, we must work at it day by day. If one plans to go into college and study medicine, you must go through a rigorous process. A process filled with hard word, loads of studying, and tons of self put effort. If you choose to live in a fantasy world, you will not get to where you'd like to be. Dreams CAN be made reality. If you choose to work hard it will all pay off in the end.
